An important part of any system, education or otherwise, is its ability to recognise and reward achievement and success. By recognising and promoting achievement the teaching profession is promoted not only within schools and local authorities but also to the wider public. Too often attention is focused only on things that have gone wrong and too infrequently do we hail success.

The Scottish Education Awards have been established as an opportunity to promote excellence and celebrate achievement in the firm belief that such an awards ceremony links the drive to improve standards and levels of achievement with the action to address issues of social inclusion.
